Cortland, NY

RAM-TECH Engineers was responsible for the SUNY Cortland New 200 Bed dormitory project which, consists of a 4-story building with the first floor being partially dedicated to the mechanical systems. The HVAC system design is based on the innovative valance system. The proposed energy efficient lighting and heating met the requirements of the New York State Executive Order 111, to reduce the energy consumption by 20%. In fact, the Building DOE2 Model projected energy consumption exceeding this requirement by 50%.

RAM-TECH Engineers, P.C. is a member of the United States Green Building Council and actively participates in the LEEDTM rating system refinement and ultimately in the implementation of Green Building techniques in projects designed by the firm.

Water conservation is achieved through the use of vacuum flow restrictors for showers and water conserving plumbing fixtures. Additional energy savings are obtained through the use of combined steam-natural gas method for domestic hot water generation, which eliminated the need for a dedicated hot water storage.

This new four story building is registered with the United States Green Building Council and was certified.
