VA SYRACUSE – SPINAL CORD INJURY CENTER (SCI),
Syracuse, NY

 

The project consists of a proposed addition of a Spinal Cord injury (SCI) Center and the upgrade and expansion of its existing original site.  The 30-bed SCI Center will require approximately 165,000 gross sq. ft. of dedicated program space consisting of approximately 130,000 gross sq. ft. of new construction and approximately 35,000 gross sq. ft. of renovation/alteration area on the 4th floor of the existing operational hospital. The functional program consists of:

6.   Infusion/Outpatient Procedure
7.   Outpatient Phlebotomy
8.   GU Clinic
9.   Same Day Surgery
10. Surgery / PACU and Surgery Administration
11. Spinal Cord Injury Unit
12. Spinal Cord Injury Outpatient Clinics
13. Spinal Cord Injury Therapy Pool
14. Respiratory Therapy / Sleep Labs

 

The complete MEP design for contaminated intake, decontamination, sterilization, preparation/ packing and sterile storage department functions. Design includes appropriate room air exchanges and relative pressurizations, as well as applicable plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power and special systems for specific room functions.  All scope cleaner, washer/ decontaminator, sterilizer and other department equipment utility services were also included.

 

The project also includes:  upgrade of the chilled water plant (added a 650-ton water cooled chiller and tower, replaced the emergency air cooled chiller system, 400 tons, a two story addition to an existing 6 level parking garage structure and elevated pedestrian bridge.
